Little Light of Mine Christian Montessori Academy is so much more than a preschool — it’s a promise, a prayer answered, and a dream birthed through love, faith, and life's hardest battles.

Over 20 years ago, I stepped into my very first job in childcare — unsure, unprepared, and completely unaware that it would change the course of my life forever. What began as “just a job” slowly grew into a deep and unwavering passion for teaching and caring for children. Day by day, I found myself falling in love with the joy, the wonder, and the incredible potential found in every child.

As the years passed, I began to dream.

I dreamed of a preschool that felt like home — one filled with warmth, laughter, and a deep sense of belonging. I imagined a space where children felt safe to explore, grow, and be themselves. A place where learning wasn’t just about ABCs and 123s, but about nurturing hearts, building confidence, and encouraging curiosity.

Through my education and experiences, I discovered how children truly learn best — through connection, respect, love, and intentional teaching that meets them exactly where they are. I began to weave together these ideas and principles with the Montessori philosophy, creating the foundation for what would one day become Little Light of Mine.

But the road to this dream wasn’t easy.

A few years ago, our world was turned completely upside down when our sweet daughter, Emmalyn, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. In an instant, everything changed. Our careers, our busy schedules, our everyday comforts— they all faded into the background.

We were forced to pause, to surrender, and to lean completely into God.

Through some of the darkest, most painful days of our lives, we saw God’s faithfulness in the most miraculous ways. We watched our little girl fight with a strength and bravery that left us in awe. Emmalyn’s battle and her victory transformed us. Her courage ignited something even deeper within me — a fierce and unshakable love for children, and a renewed calling to walk in the purpose God placed on my heart so long ago.

I told myself, "If my daughter can fight this giant with faith and without fear, then I can walk boldly in the calling God has placed on my life."

Little Light of Mine Christian Montessori Academy was born from that place — a place of surrender, obedience, and immeasurable love. What once felt like an impossible dream slowly became a reality, not by my strength, but by God making a way where there seemed to be none.
